advice

what do you look for when buying a race ready track bike?

and is it cheaper to buy a race ready or to buy a salvage tile and build it?

buy it already done is always cheaper. the only thing I say about salvaged bikes is I"ve seen some really cheap 07 gsxr750's and 600rr's which would be worth getting salvaged if you can

Theres a difference between a race bike and a trackday bike, which are you looking for? Buying a race bike that was flogged heavily on the track would be fine for doing trackdays probably but may need alot of maintainance to make it reliable for another season of abuse

You can always find last seasons race bikes for way cheaper than you could buy the bike without a salvage title and build it like that. However like HC said ive seen alot of 07 Gsxr750's and other bikes with salvage titles that only need new fairings and maybe some clip ons and fairing stays go for less than 5K. I bought my 07 750 with 700 miles on it for $4000 and all it needed was fairings.

Threw on a set of E Racing fairings, some woodcraft clip ons and some vortex rearsets and it was good to go. For less than $4700 bucks ive got a race bike, although ill spend more to acquire spare wheels and sprockets and other race essentials i couldnt have bought it race prepped that cheap

You just have to look around and find the best deal and what the bike will need to have it track ready

I'm going to guess jjgreen is just looking for trackdays ... because he's ... jjGREEN

Anytime you don't have to put parts and labor into a bike it's good.

As for salvaged bikes they vary far and wide. From just fairings replacement to a lot more work ...

So you are looking for a track day only bike, no full on racing season and no street(for this bike). I would look for a salvage title bike. You'll get more years of service out of it and by the sounds of it I don't think you need a full comp race bike.

+1 on the salvaged title bike.
I looked into an 07 gixxer 750 with 2200 miles needed plastics and a tank for $4k. That would have been a hard deal to beat.

Don't buy a bike that's been used as a stunt bike.

they are a dime a dozen on there, if i had the money there was a sweet f3 full race with tons of extras for like 3500 bucks.
